Air Conditioner problem of the 2017 Toyota Camry 1
There is liquid leaking under the passenger's seat causing a horrible stench in the car. I took the car to downtown auto center in oakland, CA and worked with assistant service manager patrick who informed that this is a 'known' issue with Toyota but not covered by the warranty. He said that debris gets clogged in the air conditioning ventilation system causing the leak under the seat. He charged me $200 (reduced to $100 when I complained) to clear the line but did not fix the leaked water, ruined carpet or do anything about the horrible stench in the car. I am very disappointed in Toyota for not covering this known issue in my 2017 Camry with less than 25k miles.

Every time I tried to use the ac air conditioner in the car it makes the car shut off if I use the cigarette lighter outlet to charge up my cell phone it drain the battery and that will cause the car to shut off also my front passenger door opens by itself even when I'm driving it will unlock and open on its own.

This complaint is true for not only my Camry, but also for many if not most models and makes today. There has been considerable justified emphasis on the dangers of using cell phones in vehicles and texting while driving because the driver is distracted from the road. However, at the same time, vehicle controls for features like radio and air conditioning (to name just two) have become more and more distracting and dangerous. Years ago, you pushed a button for the radio channel. Now you must look at an led display that's often extremely difficult to see (so you stare at it) in order to change radio channels. Same with a/c controls; instead of a big knob where you change settings by touch and feel, you now have to stare at a tiny led screen to determine what a/c mode you are selecting. I can elect not to use my cell phone, but I will continue to struggle to see tiny led displays so I can change a/c modes or radio channels or selections. Nhtsa should take the lead in reversing this dangerous trend.

3 times the collision prevention stop working while I was driving at the high way. You have to turn the car off and then turn it on to for the collision prevention system to work again. And this is so dangerous. The transmission sometimes glitch and not working properly and shifits like crazy. I feel it sometimes that car sounds not right because it should shift smoothly. Air condition when it on cold the fan can give good air streem which is good but when it on heat the fan is so slow and it doesn't give good air streaming. I was trying to find a way to report this to generate recall but I didn't know how until I found your website.

Air Conditioner problem of the 2018 Toyota Camry 6
I bought a 2018 toyoya Camry se in April and I have been having problems ever since. The etune radio system does not work properly with my phone. I have to reconnect my phone to the car while I'm driving to get my music to play after a phone call. The air conditioning doesn't cool properly, at times I have to set it on 'low' in order to get it to cool. Other times, I can have it set on 80 and it cools. When I park my car and get out, I can smell radiator fluid. The acceleration doesn't' work properly. Some times I press the gas and the car takes off smooth, other times it doesn't. There is a gap in time between me pressing the gas and the car actually taking off.

Hoses to the air conditioning unit are located in the passenger foot well which causes them to be kicked loosed at any time resulting in the passenger compartment flooding with refrigerant/coolant and other fluids.
Air Conditioner problem of the 2013 Toyota Camry 10
Air conditioner develops mold in the evaporator coil causing the smell of mold to be circulated in the interior of the car. Myself and passengers cough when the smell is present.
Air Conditioner problem of the 2014 Toyota Camry 11
Weird smell comes out of the air conditioning vents when the ac compressor is activated. The smell indicates mold buildup within the vents. There are many other online forums that mention this problem as well. This is a safety concern due to public health (some people are deathly allergic to mold) and may cause driver impairment as a result. Various Toyota dealerships in the area offered services to replace the venting system, but that's expensive and not under warranty they say. I am lucky that it's only when I have circulation on with the air conditioner running. I do not notice it with heating the interior as others have mentioned. I feel that this is a growing problem for these model years (2012-2014) of Camrys. This smell occurs whether the vehicle is in motion or not, but it does seem to go away when not in circulation mode on the climate controls.
Air Conditioner problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry 12
Abs and brake lights are going on and off. Also, the gages are acting crazy. Working sometime and not working other times. The air conditioner is working sometimes and not working other. Several people have had this problem and have had to replace the abs pump/module! there needs to be a recall on this!!.

Air Conditioner problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry 13
The instrument that show speed, rpm, gasoline, etc was going wary. The speed and the rpm go up and down, brake light come on, abs light come on, etc. I do not how fast I drive. This happened around every 5 mins, randomly and last for 1 mins sometimes 10 mins. The air conditioning stop working during this time. I checked online and I saw many people experience the same thing. This is a manufacturer problem, there is not relate issue with the way you drive, the way you do anything in the car. I used the card since new and the mileage currently only 103k+, for 9 years old car this is very low mileage.
Air Conditioner problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry 14
My 2007 Toyota Camry is blowing white powder (aluminum oxide) when the air conditioning/heat is coming out of the vents. Online research points out to the anti-mold, experimental coding that Toyota put on the evaporator fans, and this is what is causing the issue. However, Toyota does not want to admit this coding was put on the vehicles in 2007, and there is no official recall about this issue. At the same time, the long-term exposure to aluminum oxide could lead to lung damage. I was wondering what can be done in a case like this. Please advise. Toyota said that since my vehicle is not under warranty of any kind, all repairs would have to be covered by me. Thank you for your advice and thought on the issue. My case number with the Toyota is 1510121561.
Air Conditioner problem of the 2014 Toyota Camry 15
The contact owns a 2014 Toyota Camry. When the air conditioner was acivated, an abnormal mold odor emitted into the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that bugs clogged the drain tube. As a result, the bugs had to be removed and the system needed to be drained and cleaned out. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred numerous times. The approximate failure mileage was 23,000.
Air Conditioner problem of the 2012 Toyota Camry 16
When I use the recirculate on my air condition the system develops a horrible moldy smell. This will happen after I drive using this and come back to the car after it was parked and turned off - the smell will not go away unless I stop using the recirculate button - this will not allow me to use the a/c on the coldest setting because that setting turns the recirculate button on. Recent class action lawsuit approved against Toyota for this. I am very worried about my health with the possible growth of mold.
Air Conditioner problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry 17
The primary safety concerns regarding my complaint are a malfunctioning speedometer and a malfunctioning anti-lock braking system; however, there are others, which I will describe. While I was driving home, the instrument panel went completely crazy. Specifically, the speedometer went to zero (as I was driving 40mph) the tachometer started bouncing up and down between 0 and 2 or 3, the brake and abs light came on. Then, everything went back to normal before I could pull over. I soon realized additional problems like the temp gauge going limp and the air conditioner blowing hot air along with other things. All of this happened all together but on and off at random intervals. I did some research, which led me to the abs issue. According to others with the same problem the repair is $2k-$3k and many had stories of dealers making various costly repairs that didn¿t fix the problem. I work for minimum wage, this is my only car, and it is 110 degrees in my town. Driving without air conditioning here is a safety hazard. One person suggested unplugging the faulty abs module to regain air conditioning. When I did this the air conditioning did in fact start working along with the tachometer and temp gauge. The speedometer, odometer, and seat belt alarm still do not work. Furthermore, this is no longer intermittent but constant and the brake light, abs light, and check engine light all remain on. An abs malfunction could be disastrous in wet weather. The lack of a speedometer is a safety problem on city roads for obvious reasons and not to forget the seat belt alarm or the odometer, which no longer logs the mileage. My 2007 Camry had low miles for its age (<70k) when these problems first occurred; the car has been garaged and well maintained. I have read many other complaints from those with the very same problems and it seems like a faulty product is to blame.
Air Conditioner problem of the 2010 Toyota Camry 18
On or about the above date of April 15, 2015 I washed my 2010 Toyota Camry at a local car wash using their automated high pressure wash and wax. A few days afterward I realized the center trunk area, that holds the spare tire, held 2 to 3 inches of water, and the right side of the trunk also had water. I have read post after post online stating many other Toyota owners had the same problem, and some have stated the the rear window and body panels were not securely sealed from the outside elements when the vehicle was assembled at the factory. In June of 2014 water was getting inside on the carpet on the driver and passenger side soaking the carpet completely. The air conditioner condensation drainage tube had plugged up underneath the vehicle that caused the interior by the driver and passenger side to be soaked in water. There is no evidence whatsoever that this vehicle was ever involved in an accident. The odometer just recently turned over 45,145 miles. Now, there is already an indication of mold, and mold can be deadly.

Air Conditioner problem of the 2007 Toyota Camry 19
Started the car and noticed the abs and parking brake light were on. Tachometer was jumping between 0 and 1000rpm. Air conditioner wasn't working. Drove the car a bit with no change except the tachometer jumping a bit higher than 1 and dropping back to 0. Speedometer wouldn't move at all. After a bit more driving, the abs and parking brake lights turned off and the gauges resumed normal operation. Air conditioner also started working. Since this initial problem, the gauges and lights have been operating with the same inconsistency (jumping tachometer, speedometer sitting at 0, abs and parking brake lights on).
Air Conditioner problem of the 2014 Toyota Camry 20
There is something seriously wrong with this vehicle's air conditioning system. It has been omitting a foul, moldy, mildewy, bad bo (body odor), musty, sour smell since only owning the vehicle for less than half a year. This is a huge safety/health issue & needs to be remedied ASAP. I myself have allergies & the smell blowing out from the vents on a daily basis is causing me to be very sick. I have taken the vehicle into the dealership several times & there is no permanent fix. It is a recurrent problem with this manufacturer's vehicles & they have not bothered to address or remedy the problem. There are many other owners with the same vehicle who are also experiencing the same problems.

Air Conditioner problem of the 2012 Toyota Camry 23
We received the recall notice in early December, 2013 regarding NHTSA campaign number: 13v442000 dealing with the air bag control module. At that time, we called our Toyota dealer for the related service and were told the replacement parts were in limited supply and the earliest we could have this safety issue fixed was in February, 2014. We made the appointment. We received a phone call today, 1/20/2014, that the appointment was being cancelled as Toyota could not meet the current demand for the replacement part. We were told to check back in a couple of weeks to see if the situation has changed. We asked what to do if a problem occurs in the meantime and we were told to then call the service department and they would fix the problem. When we asked how they would fix the problem since they are saying replacement parts aren't available, the question was left unanswered.

My speedometer stopped working, abs brake light stays on, rpm meter dances, and air condition pops on and off, all occurred at the same time. By reading many posts throughout the internet, it seems to be happening to several 2007 Camry's to 2009. Appears to be the abs control module?.

2003 Toyota Camry. Consumer writes in regards to engine problems. The consumer stated the engine seemed hard to start. It felt as though it was misfiring. The air condition stopped working, the vehicle overheated and started smoking profusely. When the consumer arrived home, she discovered there was no coolant in the radiator. She filled the radiator with coolant and managed to get the vehicle to her local mechanic. The mechanic found a bad air condition fan, no freon in the system, and the radiator was leaking. The consumer paid $1200. 00 to fix the issues. However, after driving 10 miles, the ac stopped working, the engine overheated and smoke was emitting from the engine, again. Also, the check engine light illuminated two years prior, but despite having 3 different mechanics inspect the vehicle, the computer diagnostic system, indicated no problem. It was re-set 3 times, but eventually came back on every time.

When I operate my heat or air conditioning in my 2010 Toyota Camry I get a strong smell of sulfur in the cabin of my car. I owned my car for 4 years now and the problem started about 3 years ago. No one can tell me the exact cause of the problem.
Air Conditioner problem of the 2013 Toyota Camry 28
2013 Toyota Camry. Consumer writes in regards to hvac assembly and ac system issues. The consumer stated the vehicle was taken to the dealer on 4 separate occasions, for the odor issue coming from the ac and the mildew and fungus growth in the padding and carpet.
Air Conditioner problem of the 2013 Toyota Camry 29
Anytime during warm weather when the air conditioner has been/is being used there is a disgusting foul mildew odor immediately upon starting the vehicle. The odor is nauseating and causes headaches. Every time the car is driven, I have to turn on the heat and put all the windows down for about 5-10 minutes to get rid of the odor. Apparently there is an issue with condensation from the ac not draining properly. I have been able to find several similar complaints online. Some dealerships claim they have never heard of this issue, while others admit that they are aware of it but that Toyota has no 'fix' for it. Breathing in mold is a safety concern. This does not occur in the winter when ac is not used.

2007 Toyota Camry manufacturer's defect of the air conditioning system. Emits a strong musty mold smell. The company is aware of this problem and has done nothing. Dealership performed a temporary foam treatment that might last a year and sprayed a chemical inside the vent system. The possibility of mold in the system exists and could cause severe aggravation of already existing allergy problems. I have read many complaints from all over the country. I think it's time to hold Toyota accountable.
